Stanley Grimshaw is a minor character in Perfect Dark. He is a brown-haired, bearded man, employed in the Carrington Institute. His name is revealed in the mission Carrington Villa: Hostage One (on Perfect Agent) where he contacts Joanna in the middle of the mission on hackers who having intrude the villa, and she must rid of them before they hack into the Institute's files.
Away from missions, Grimshaw can be found in the Hacker Central east of Joanna's office in the Carrington Institute.
Perfect Dark: Janus' Tears[]
Grimshaw believes that girls admire his genius and his inventions and enjoys explaining technical stuff to them.
Joanna Dark knew Grimshaw back in London. She remembered that Grimshaw "nearly burst a blood vessel" when he learned that Dark destroyed three of dataDyne's seven quantum cores.
Grimshaw's team developed an undetectable listening device for Dark's mission Janus' Tears, able to hack anything without trace. In his usual custom, he spent an hour explaining it to her.
After Dark dealt with a strike team against the Institute's Los Angeles office, and saving Jackson Abbot's life (not before blowing up a dropship above the district), Grim's bots managed to "sanitize" all information by eliminating all footage from the networks, including traffic cameras and weather satellites. Tech boys in LA talked about power surges, magnetic fields or sunspots.
Dark bugged Miranda Sturgis's office with his listening device, and Jonathan Steinberg estimated that Grim would hack her files within 2 hours. Dark also gave the description of the shooter who invaded the office for Grim to research mercenaries with that description. Grim's team identified him as David Roarke.
Perfect Dark[]
Grimshaw's occupation is said to be a top hacker and Computer Programmer of the Institute, as one of his lines has him saying: "Welcome to Hacker Central." when Joanna enters his office. Because of his intelligence, he takes part in a few missions by contacting Joanna during some parts of her investigation. Some of these missions include:
- dataDyne Research: Investigation
- Carrington Villa: Hostage One
- Chicago: Stealth
- G5 Building: Reconnaissance
- Carrington Institute: Defense
- This is the only mission where he makes a full appearance as it revolves around the Institute. He provides Joanna a Devastator if all hostages that were rescued are alive.
Trivia[]
- Of all the minor characters in the Institute, Grimshaw seems to have the most roles, even if they only play a small part in the mission.
- In Carrington Institute: Defense, if the player isn't quick enough to kill the guard keeping watch over Grimshaw, he will attempt to run up and knock him out before the guard can react.
- Grimshaw's face is randomly generated as a generic enemy during the missions. His face is also applied permanently on the unlockable Co-Op Perfect Buddy, Hit and Run, a Mr. Blonde-like man wielding the K7 Avenger (N64 version only). His head is actually one of the game's main developers, as seen with the Team Heads Only cheat.
