Perfect Dark: Hong Kong Sunrise was a tie-in comic to Perfect Dark Zero, acting as a prequel to the game.
The comic was featured in the collector's edition of Zero, alongside an ad for downloads on select Samsung phones and a copy of the manual entitled "A Guide to Modern Combat."
Synopsis[]
In Hong Kong Sunrise, Jack Dark, Chandra Sekhar and Joanna Dark are hot on the case of a scientist named Zeigler.
Jack Dark isn't convinced that Joanna Dark is ready to face hand to hand combat and urges her to wait until they can take on the missions they want, not just the ones that they need. Joanna isn't happy with this and would much rather put her training to use than let Jack complete missions on his own. Regardless, Dark Bail Bonds needs the money desperately and Jack cites this as the reason for taking up the Zeigler case, and Chandra reminding Joanna that they are "fifteen grand in the hole."
Suddenly, Chandra's connection is broken, and Joanna spots a team of rival bounty hunters in jetpacks attempting to take up the score. Joanna swiftly moves into action and jumps out the window, grabbing hold of one of the bounty hunters and causing both of them to crash to the ground. The comic introduces to a character that Joanna seems familiar with, having a short yet snarky conversation with him about a previous event that Joanna accidentally sabotaged in Chicago. The two quickly get into a fight which ends with victory for the team.
The finial page shows a conversation between Joanna and Jack, explaining that Zeigler had ran off when the rival bounty hunters showed up. But Jack admits that Joanna showed some amazing skills during the fight and that she was ready to go on a real mission now.
