Achievements are an Xbox Live feature. By unlocking achievements, the player increases their Gamerscore. Achievements are purely meant as bragging right.
The Xbox Live Arcade remaster of Perfect Dark contains 20 achievements (for a total of 200 Gamerscore), and Perfect Dark Zero contains 50 achievements (for a total of 1000 Gamerscore).
